The Company of Wolves

The Company of Wolves

Finally caught one of my all time favourites in 35mm at The Barbican and it was as terrific as I'd hoped. The film presentation was wonderful, adding a richness to the image which enhanced the wonderfully atmospheric nature of the film. The film itself has captivated me since I first watched it in the late 80's. I immediately fell in love with the structure, the beautifully realised sets, the dark tone, the inventive and quite gruesome effects, a very satisfying ending and it was, and still is the most effective film about a dream out there. The soundtrack is just astonishing and marries with the images impeccably. No other adult fairy-tale film has come close to this in my eyes, and it will continue to captivate me for years to come.
