  Definitely NOT the movie for you if you dislike ghouls, goblins, Draculas, Frankensteins, and spooky things that go bump in the night.

  I admire how omnivorous Rob Zombie's love for horror is. We know he loves grimy '70s stuff, but he also loves the cheapest and cheesiest Halloween aesthetics, and wants to preserve them. This movie puts me in mind of what Bresson said of Orson Welles' version of Macbeth: "I love too much natural settings and natural light not to love also the fake light and cardboard settings of Macbeth."

  Feels about a million years long, but I suspect Zombie meant for you to just have this playing in the background while you do something else.

  coffin wipe! cute, funny & psychotronic/beautiful, rob zombies crimes of the future; love the corny old-timey jokes (car 54) and cartoon logic. richard brake is just the best actor. not as terror-toony weedjies/moonbeam as promised by the trailer (despite being shot subspecies-style in actual castles of budapest) cuz its something even better - rob loves horror, the munsters, his friends & his wife, not in word, nor tongue, but in deed & in truth.

  It's clear that Rob Zombie made The Munsters for himself, but he might as well have made it for me. The idea of taking a B&W 50s sitcom riff on suburban domesticity and turning it into an kaleidoscopic explosion of color and Transylvanian kitsch may have started as a studio mandate, but the results are delightful and warm and uniquely Rob Zombie. Your mileage may vary in regards to its corniness, but for me, it's a feature, not a bug. I can't get enough of the makeshift, tactile quality. I've watched this movie four times just this month. An instant seasonal family favorite. Clearly a home movie with a studio budget curated out of pure passion for the source.…

  Don't really know what to say to a world that rejects this kind of clear passion for horror even at its most tacky. Has great, old-school silly-spooky vibes and an infectiously gleeful childishness funnelled through a visual sensibility I can only describe as "psychedelic Party City commercial." The colors, the wipes, the sets, make-up, etc... It's obvious they spent a ton of money on it but also looks like some friends raided their own closets for costumes and decorations and just started shooting. Kinda crazy to me that that doesn't instantly charm people to this as it does me. I didn't grow up with carnie's for parents as Mr. Zombie did or anything but the look of it brought me back to my time working for one of those chintzy Halloween haunted house attractions.

  The equivalent of watching a friend's home movies: Mostly funny for only them and way too long.

  BUT

  You guys like the same stuff: Monsters, colourful lighting, dumb jokes.

  It's weird that this was a passion project for Rob Zombie because you could have fooled me into thinking this was made to keep the rights. Everyone on screen is having a ball, and I have a soft spot for Jeff Daniel Phillips's goofy portrayal of Herman Munster, but it only starts to take off right as it ends, so... The TV series, I guess?

  This film occupies a very strange space. Figuring out how that will be received by audiences is a bit similar to the effectiveness of glass coffins—remains to be seen. 
  This is a 100 percent earnest tribute/reboot/remake(?) of the 1964 TV show of the same name.  In a way this plays like the Pilot Episode of that series. It feels authentically like that 1960’s TV with campy (and I mean CAMPY) performances and humor. The care and dedication put into this is plainly seen. The production values, costume design, sets and lighting all look fantastic.

  More than once in this a character gulps and points offscreen at something frightening. At one point Jorge Garcia even stops mid sentence to go "W-w-w-WHAT??" I think that's beautiful.

  I've seen some grumbling about it but I really liked Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman. The world doesn't make WASPs like Fred Gwynne anymore. Nowadays they're all Vampire Weekend fans in Carhartt jackets sucking bong hits into their vaguely bird-like faces. So the joke of Herman that he's actually a warm, educated "father knows best" patrician doesn't really make sense past, like, Bush Sr.'s administration.   Trailers be damned!!

  I, like so many others, saw the trailer for this and thought WHAT ON EARTH? Even me, a most forgiving movie fan was taken aback by how completely terrible the trailer made the movie look. Well, I’m happy to say that the final product, whilst at times a bit odd and cringe, is actually a rather delightful and charming film that’s got its heart in the right place and is setting out to entertain the viewer with zany laughs and colourful spooks.

  I’ve been a Rob Zombie fan from day dot, there’s not a film of his that I don’t like, so I suppose I’m a little bias but oh well I’m showing favouritism and don’t care.…

  a movie for a literal five year old, a vanity project with no regard for what any other human being on the planet might enjoy, looks like it was made for less than the budget of a high school theater department. Alas, this is all delightful, to me. I loved it!!!
