“All I really want is to be loved. I've had such a hard time without it lately.”
Painted like a Technicolor dream, I thought to myself how much this looked like All That Heaven Allows, and it chuffed me to bits to see that Douglas Sirk’s work was one of Ti West’s inspirations for Pearl. The colors throughout were frequently gorgeous. Really nice job from the whole team.
Mia Goth is scarily brilliant in this. At times, it’s unsettling how well she can commit to Pearl’s hysterics. It’s quite a sad story, and Pearl’s tragic descent to villainy is one that is gripping to witness.
Enjoyed this a lot. She just wants to be a star. She just wants to be loved.
