The film follows Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) as he teams up with “the worst” Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to save his world and his friends.

Deadpool and Wolverine is a hilarious team up/ road trip film that is full of heart. The writing is fantastic, especially in the way it juggles a lot of storylines without it being too complicated. It also honours Logan’s sacrifice at the end of Logan in a really nice way while also delivering on this team up that people have been wanting for ages. Another really cool thing about the film is how it deals with the cameos of Fox characters and giving them a proper send-off. The best example of this The Others which consist of Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and Laura/ X-23 (Dafne Keen) that Deadpool and Wolverine team up with. Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) is a great villain, especially the idea that she just wants to live in the void because it’s all she knows. The ending is a little predictable but still sweet and really well executed.

Ryan Reynolds delivers his best performance as Deadpool so far. Hugh Jackman is on excellent form as Wolverine. Emma Corrin makes a really sinister villain, something they should play more of. Matthew MacFadyen is well cast as the weaselly Mr Paradox. Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapicic, Lewis Tan, Wunmi Mosaku, Aaron Standfor, Tyler Mane, Aaron W. Reed, Mike Waters, Chris Evans (Returning in a hilarious way as Johnny Storm) and Henry Cavil (In a fun cameo as a version of Wolverine) provide solid support.

Visually the film looks great with awesome action and impressive cinematography by George Richmond. A couple of highlights include the really fun car fight scene and the Deadpool army sequence.

Final thought: Brilliant.
