Suffers from Blomkamp's usual problems - he can't direct - but thrives on an even stronger version of what tends to make his movies work despite the odds: character. The action sucks, but everyone is having so much fun with this oddball transhumanist coming of age story. If you can find me another movie about rappers raising a robot baby, I'll eat my shoe.
