m. night creates a beautiful movie about hope, love, community, and learning to live with fear and failure. also, could be said that this film could be a response to 9/11 and building the sense of community within each other and having to accept the fear. love the visual motif and use of color in this film. shyamalan continues his love of water in this as a guide for ivy. beautiful cinematography from roger deakins and a great score. the scene on the porch is among my favorite in any of shyamalan’s. i love how m. night is a humanist and always has hope and love in his films as a continued through line in his work. beautiful stuff <3
