"Now I have a machine gun. Ho-Ho-Ho!"
Wrong movie, I know, but Kevin is quite a crafty little bugger, ain't he? He surely would've put that machine gun to good use.
It's been almost 20 years since I've seen Home Alone. Much of the movie hinges on Macaulay Culkin's performance and I think it has aged quite well. Actually I was rather surprised how good he is, because all I remembered were broad strokes. I had forgotten how annoying the siblings are, how much screentime is given to the mom trying to get back, and that the face-off between Kevin and the bad guys doesn't happen until the last half hour of the movie. It also had completely slipped my mind that it's the brainchild of John Hughes.
While I think the film could've gotten to the showdown somewhat quicker, it's considered a Christmas classic for a reason.
Happy holidays!🎄
