Soup’s review published on Letterboxd:
Expected a bit more of a twist on the conventional “mournful ghost” story but Jennifer Kent directs the fuck out of this and actually makes a old house at night organically eerie long before things actually go bump in the night and that’s quite an achievement for a time when haunted house stories are a dime a dozen and Mike Flanagan seems to be the only one who made it work twice in a row.
Hopefully Del Toro maybe publishes the original short story for our reading pleasure! 🤞
