I love how much fun the director was having with this one, every single shot, sequence and music cue was carefully planned to be the most gleefully unnerving thing he could come up with. His excitement for what he was crafting  singlehandedly made the experience unique despite there being a significant amount of derivative elements. 

Massive props to Sosie Bacon too, she absolutely crushed it acting terrified and holding the thin little plot the film had together. Half a star extra for the creature design trick, it  was some of the cleverest subversion I’ve seen in a LONG time. While there is the sequel tag to this one I kinda hope it remains a one off since I doubt one can craft an entirely new bag of tricks for this premise.
