Dìdi (弟弟)

Almost alarmingly authentic, it was of course inevitable to see my mid to late teen years on the big screen but damn if this isn't pretty accurate. The awkward interactions and stupid decisions made by a young, somewhat socially awkward kid just trying to figure things out.

The cast is lovely, after recently going through the first two seasons of Twin Peaks seeing Joan Chen is a delight. The brother and sister relationship/bond between Chris and Vivian is on point and captured very well. The entire family dynamic in general is great.

This is a bit standard for the coming of age film, nothing revolutionary here. However it taps into a particular nostalgia for myself that I love to see done this well. I'm definitely part of the target audience for this so it's not surprising it hits on pretty much every level, but still think this is very well done and worth it for most people to see. Really enjoyed it.
