"It's essential to listen to black voices right now."

Terrific satire that is able to be humorous, topical, and also heartfelt at times. Jeffrey Wright is simply terrific. He brings a perfect balance of seriousness and excellent comedic timing, happy to see him nominated for this. Similarly Sterling K Brown is phenomenal and one of my favorite aspects of the film. He comes into parts of the film like a tornado of chaos, disappearing and reappearing throughout.

This is part family drama and part comedic satire, but the movie is able to blend both of these together well with plenty of overlap. My biggest disappointment would be not enough Tracee Ellis Ross as I was loving her character, but I get the importance of needing the advance the story in the way that having less of her is needed for. Overall this doesn't have the most unique or original messaging/themes, but it executes on all of them well and in a way that is very entertaining. Huge recommend for this one, glad I was able to see it in theaters.

Also Lorraine and Maynard must be protected at all costs.
