The Room Next Door

The Room Next Door

This is such a example of a genuine and beautiful piece of art in motion, authentic, vulnerable and filled of this morbid poetry that even though it can feel so chilling and intriguing, that is part of this duel between life and death, you never know when death is going to arrive so we should live every moment like is the last, that thought always put me unwell since personally I’m so afraid of death so clearly this film had me mortified for most of his length, since is a topic that I haven’t been over it, and probably never will. I definitely appreciate the symbolisms that add a lot to the aura of this difficult yet moving story that is not so far from reality challenges, we always wonder what is next after death, are we going to reborn or ascend to any sort of paradise? all of those theories are part of a questionable nature we have to face sooner or later and that is what makes “The Room Next door” even more intimate and relatable, since all this conversations could had been a chapter of our lives in the past, it can resonate on the fact that we had found our apparent soulmate that we trust with the most life changing secrets or desires, unfortunately society is not always trustworthy but pure human beings can paint a smile on our lifeless selves whenever is needed. Tilda Swinton is spectacular in portraying this agony, this bravery while still being a cunning and joyful woman, she never cease to amaze me with her acting roles and this one is not the exception, she was truly brilliant, as well as Julianne Moore that even though her character was less complicated she gave such a lovely and mature performance that convey this complicity and loyalty that we need in life, maybe not having a crew, but a few persons we can count on is always relieving. Almodóvar essence is so intact on this gorgeous piece of cinema, with such a polished and vibrant palette of colors that is so characteristic of his other films, with such a honest and not pretentious storyline, all the components are so nicely put together, the locations were wonderful while still feeling ordinary, is beyond me how “The Room Next Door” is turbulent while still being so poignant and mystically reflexive, I guess that is the magic of the whole product. I must admit that for me it lack maybe more mystery, more darkness, I don’t know but it didn’t made me cry like I expected what kind of disappointed me however I can’t deny that I enjoyed it and for me personally is one of the best movies released on 2024, it just blossomed and gave impact to my most profound senses, it made me lost my breath and sometimes even made me laugh with his peculiar and effortless acid humour, is definitely worth a watch!!.
