Having never really explored the universe of Star Trek and only really knowing about it based on small snippets of questionably accurate information I had never wanted to watch J.J. Abrams's version of it as it never particularly appealed to me.

But after I was due to watch the second installment at the O2 I decided to watch the first to gain some sort of insight into the origination of the characters as well as to hopefully enjoy a good film. And enjoy a good film I did. It's fun without being elitist and those whom are not familiar with the story will be able to enjoy the film to a certain degree - I am not sure on its faithfulness regarding the TV shows but it's definitely a fun, time-warping thrill ride.
