Fun 80s throwback. Definitely not as original as I thought it would be and it shows its budget/director’s lack of experience at times with some pretty bland shots and blocking. However, Cole Sprouse plays the Edward Scissorhands knock off quite effectively and Kathryn Newton is finding her niché as a horror girl. Not all of the jokes land either but there were some genuinely funny and great moments. Overall, it’s an enjoyable horror rom-com hybrid but nothing very memorable. The type of film you put on during the dark October nights with loads of snacks and blankets.
