Yi Yi

Yi Yi

An intimate slice of life film that is also three hours long. A family painted in three perspectives - the quiet anguish of extra-marital temptation, the ratcheting tension of a teenage romance and the wonder of childhood curiosity. Each story considers the ramifications of the past, and potential worlds we either refuse to enter or are condemned never to know. I wouldn't call it slow-paced per se; the ground covered truly justifying the length, and the more quiet and slow moments feel like short interludes in the grand opera of middle-class chaos.
