ChiefMcMurphy’s review published on Letterboxd:
I wanted to see what all this fuss was about "Road House," and it was surprisingly a pretty fun and stupid time. Admittedly, I've never seen the original, and 50% of the movie all I kept thinking about was this. The star of the show is obviously Jake Gyllenhaal, and watching him kick ass left and right was very entertaining, to say the least. His calmness while he's fucking people up was amazing, and the scene where he fucks people up at the roadhouse and then takes them to the hospital set the tone of his personality pretty well. The fight scenes' stunts choreography were visually stunning, and I applaud Doug Liman for taking some audacious camera angle decisions. Not all worked for me because at times I did feel pretty dizzy, but overall, watching Jake being ripped as fuck fighting Conor McGregor was amazing. Conor was as extravagant as I thought he would be; his performance is hilarious, and I do believe there's no better man for this egocentric role. The movie serves its purpose just to kill some brain cells, but overall, I do admit I was having the time of my life with this stupid nonsensical plot, which was used only to introduce Jake Gyllenhaal as an immortal son of a bitch.
