Holy shit a rom-com slasher that doesn’t half-ass either genre it mixes. Gloriously gory and unapologetically “romantic”. It hits all the familiar beats of both genres but when combined it becomes something wholly original. It’s totally self aware and the parody is so much fun. The soundtrack is full of familiar songs and hearing OutKast during the opening credits was delightful. Heart Eyes is witty, brutal, adorable, and really entertaining. It’s a total blast!

    P.S.
Loved seeing Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster as Hobbs and Shaw. 😆🥰

After Heretic and this, I’m totally sold on Sophie Thatcher, still not sold on Jack Quaid though. This was a nicely done thriller that’s gorgeous to look at and a breeze to get through. The tone was almost too light and playful, there didn’t seem to be a lot of gravity to what was happening. I wish it was a bit more clever and had a bit more depth, but for what it was it was still highly enjoyable.

I could watch Pugh and Garfield stare at a wall for 90 minutes, they are so charismatic. I really enjoyed the style of storytelling and appreciated that they tried to make this realistic instead of a corny soppy soap opera. I also really dug the score and the song choices. I thought it was beautifully filmed and I liked the yellow/orange color grading. I wanted a bit more more romance and less of the other thing but it was still a delightful experience.

The IMAX sound was crazy intense and the visuals were beyond dazzling especially considering Nolan didn’t use any CGI. The score is exceptional and plays pretty much throughout the entirety of the film which helps keep the story engaging at all times. I didn’t know much about Oppenheimer except he is considered the father of the atomic bomb. There’s much more to his story and I was fascinated throughout.

This is an actor’s film, the cast does a fantastic job.…

It’s always a great sign when a 3hr and 9min movie feels half as long. I had that same feeling with Wolf of Wall Street which this movie kinda reminds me of in terms of brilliant excess and comedic tone. Damien also seems to be tapping into not only Scorsese but also his inner Paul Thomas Anderson and Tarantino while adding his own style. It’s a gorgeous display of cinematic verve flying off the screen and it put a permanent…
