For anyone going into this with high expectations, don’t. Personally, it wasn’t all that scary, but the ongoing theme of trust between strangers was really well done. That being said, figuring out who to trust is in almost EVERY horror movie imaginable, so what’s really new?

The use of silence during the chase scene is insane.

  • The Descent

    The Descent

    ★★★½

There are scenes in this where I can barely see what’s going on, understandably so but still. It hurts my eyes to watch. That said, the movie is solid, except for the ending, the alternate ending is better.

  • Smile

The last act made me burst out laughing that I got stares afterwards. Predictable and loud, this thing couldn’t get a genuine scare out of me.

  • Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare

    Yokai Monsters: Spook Warfare

    ★★★★

This is my Endgame. Just a fun watch seeing all of these monster designs and their weird abilities. My personal favorite is the Rokurokubi yokai, the lady with the serpent-like neck, who thankfully gets some well deserved screen time.

  • Trick 'r Treat

ESSENTIAL Halloween movie, even more so than John Carpenter’s Halloween. Just wished there were more there to see it in theaters. This movie needs to be played EVERY Halloween, just hope this isn’t the last we ever get to see it in theaters. Good thing there’s a SEQUEL IN THE WORKS HELL YEAH!!

Preserved by MoMA, so you just know this movie’s a work of art.

It’s the quiet father and son moments that put me on the edge of my seat. Fantastic movie.
