One of the best psych horrors, not even in just the anime medium. This has been a movie long overdue film and it is well worth all of its praises!
Love how the detective work is done within the show’s universe, and how it bleeds into the real world. There’s so much to pick up on rewatching it, like Rumi actually being the one on stage, and you just see the two idols look horrified. Plan to see more of Satoshi Kon’s works, may he Rest in Peace. Fuck Aronofsky!

You know a movie’s great when you don’t even have to rewatch it to know it’s great and instead just listen to the score, remembering each scene track after track. Any director thinking they can adapt what isn’t broke, eat a dick.

Since he’s not credited on Letterboxd, might as well give praise to the colorist for the Minus One Minus Color variant, Masahiro Ishiyama. Watching this version is the go to, for it looks gorgeous. It harkens back to the original 1954 film while mixing in modern visual effects, that are far more superior compared to the more Americanized Godzilla films.
For once, these characters are much more fleshed out and you root for their triumphant success rather than just impatiently waiting…

Saw this with a packed theater at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, for the FIRST TIME for both! I’ve only seen a few clips and reviews of The Room, but never the full movie solo. This also goes for the theater, which I’ve always wanted to go to and support, which it absolutely deserves for its film curation and true love for the art form. Having now experienced both of these things, what the fuck...

Fallen asleep numerous times, but finally managed to finish the film. There’s nothing wrong with a film taking its time to let the audience take in the scene, however it’s very easy to nod off, you might as well just be listening to the score at that point, which is great in its own right, especially love Ellen’s theme. Can’t wait for Robert Eggers’ adaptation!

This one is just good for the soul. The film can be very melodic, scary, optimistic, somber, and joyous. There’s a whole range of emotions found in this film. This was needed today. Keep the live action movie.

I am so sad that I didn’t get to catch this in theaters!
What even happened on February 29th to miss this?
THEY HAD THE DIRECTOR AND A BEAVER!
This film is reminiscent of old slapstick cartoons such as Tom and Jerry for example where they’re able to express their emotions without any dialogue exchange, and they nail this limitation among many!
For the budget they had for this film, they pull off a lot, way more than expected which…

So Tobe Hopper tried to answer his own question,
“What would an unnecessary sequel look like?”
And so he directed a parody of this exact premise!
On paper, that’s really funny. In practice, it’s the wildest follow up to what many would call a classic.
The two movies are practically night and day in terms of tone. The original is funny, and the sequel tries to, but no single line of dialogue will ever beat “LOOK WHAT YOUR BROTHER DID…
