Director/Cast/Premise
Pulse is the 2001 Japanese horror film written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Starring Kumiko Aso, Haruhiko Kato and Koyuki the plot sees ghosts invading the world of the living via the Internet.
Quick Thoughts
I always knew the dial up Internet was evil, the sound was a screeching tormenting noise that meant doom..... But somebody would always pick up the phone in my house and cause disconnect so clearly I was safe from those ghosts.
Pulse has alot to say than most horror films with it's deeper meaning. Exploration of death and loneliness it seemingly predicted much of what the Internet would become in our over reliance of it causing so much distance between real interactions.
I wasn't completely onboard with the editing, pacing and management of the score/sound effects whilst the visuals were mostly ineffective for me but it didn't take away from what is a memorable J Horror.
