I like the first one, I didn’t like the second one, and this one has immediately become my favourite of the series. It doesn’t fall victim to a lot of prequel pitfalls, the action is well paced, there’s a great human story at the centre, and it has an excellent cat. I went in with relatively muted expectations and came out with tears streaming down my face. Who knew?!

Also a quick observation about the screening: a girl had a panic attack, announced it very loudly to the audience and left, came back in for her jacket, dropped her stuff all over the aisle, swore a lot, exclaimed “stupid fucking film!” as she exited, and that just feels funny to me in the midst of a film called A Quiet Place when everyone is supposed to be silent. (Hope she’s ok).
