This is definitely a step up from the first one, since it pretty much takes a lot of things about the first one and just makes it better. Naomi Scott is absolutely insane as the lead in this and this builds suspense a lot better with its storytelling. The solid scares from the first one continue here with a crazy amount of jump scares and gore. Very very solid horror overall.

Nothing really that crazy, but has some great camera work that lead to some extremely effective jumpscares.

Outlandishly ridiculous but also extremely fun to watch. The storyline is messy with a few too many twists and turns and is riddled with ridiculousness. And the cgi definitely does not look the best at times. But I would be lying to say I wasn’t having a good time while watching. Despite its flaws, the action, the characters and their interactions, and the plot are all still wildly entertaining. Could definitely see arguments on why this is bad, but I had an overall good time with so good film for me.

Feels so very earnest and human (without any human characters but you know what I mean) and is complemented by amazing animation and visuals. It’s no The Wild Robot, but I can’t necessarily be mad at the love this will probably ultimately get during award season.

Life can only be understood backwards, but we have to live it forwards

This balances its surprisingly depressing, melancholic, and overall tragic nature with some absolutely lovely touching moments to ultimately make for a wonderful compelling narrative. Just amazingly written with great characters that explore its beautiful themes on how we view life and break free from limitations and setbacks we encounter. I will admit that I was a little thrown off at the somewhat odd nature and peculiar animation…

This is just an overall spectacular crime thriller with great direction from Michael Mann. He establishes not only the environment, but the two main leads and their dynamic in an extremely engaging way though fantastic dialogue throughout. There was also just some insane cinematography in this which elevated all of the well executed action sequences, especially in its final moments that made for a masterclass of a tense final showdown. Tom Cruise is amazing as always, and it’s nice to…

    950th log ‼️🎉

About time I watched this since it’s definitely a staple in black cinema, and for good reason. Extremely heartfelt and true to itself as it paints the picture of the culture within Atlanta perfectly with some great characters and a great plot. A good time through and through.

I’m a little conflicted on how I feel about this. This had an entrancing and almost odd vibe throughout, and I know David Lynch is known for directing his films with a distinct style to them, which holds true here. The narrative wasn’t necessarily confusing for the most part, but felt somewhat incoherent at moments throughout this that definitely arose some confusion at times. And I did 100% get kinda lost in the ending of this and had a number…

Just a fun old-fashioned Hollywood adventure. First time I’ve actually seen this from beginning to end since the only scene I remember watching as a kid was that bug scene which definitely left a lasting impact. But now on a true complete watch, this bangs and is honestly such a great time through and through. Lovable characters and fun action, couldn’t really ask for any more.

There's only one rule in the jungle: when the lion's hungry, he eats!

Kinda suffers from style over substance, with nothing really working narratively wise as it’s kinda messy. But has a great cast and is pretty enjoyable so it’s a fun watch.

Truly a gut-wrenching slow-burn with a palpable atmosphere that is filled with many great raw performances that ultimately makes this so powerful at many times throughout. This has an incredible screenplay from beginning to end with amazing dialogue throughout which when paired with these performances, just increases the overall impact this has. When this gears up into its action sequences, they are executed to a very high degree with a good amount of tension and camera work, especially the third act. Overall, very soft yet powerful filmmaking through and through.

  • The Piano Lesson

    The Piano Lesson

    ★★★

This is very driven by its heavy amount of dialogue, but it’s filled with absolutely phenomenal acting performances, specifically Danielle Deadwyler and John David Washington and all of their conversations, that keeps you interested throughout. I do think there was a bit of a pacing issue as the film kinda felt unfocused at times as there were a lot of scenes that felt like they were unneeded to tell the story it was trying to tell, along with a supernatural…
