would have preferred a more fucked up and gnarly version of this story but I also must bravely admit that this made me cry! I think heller is really smart with emotional beats and while this isn’t her best by a long shot I still see her in the movie. the image of amy’s dog self laying next to her mother was very moving - the imagined ease of affection that never existed between them as people.
