Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine

MCU for Millennials. 100%. Convinced at core Ryan Reynolds crafted this whole shebang for his life-love Blake Lively born in 1987, age 36. The soundtrack alone’s joyous for anyone who came of age early to mid-2000s, particularly the opening creds, reminiscent of Rogen’s This Is the End.

Second half’s too lengthy (home stretch, guys), Deadpool gets actually annoying, and the third act’s so predictable you could’ve written it yourself post bender; but. But what ultimately wins over—if you, ahem, let it in—is the I just want to matter ethos and the you were always the wrong guy redemption play. Had me sweet smile teary-eyed on more than one occasion, especially the side vids as the initial end credits rolled. So. Not a total waste and more soft center tender than I anticipated, which is more than I can say for most new releases these days.

I did it for you
