Scavenger Hunt 102 ~ Film #27: Pick a movie that is centered around music.

Brutal. I'd been putting this off since it came out because I knew it was gonna be pretty heavy. Watching him wail on his drum set after his diagnosis is like watching a violent suicide attempt. The use of sound design to capture the experience of suddenly living in a world of silence is so effective, it elevates this to a truly filmic experience. What I didn't expect was how striking the visuals were going to be. For how emotionally destructive this can get, the imagery can be so still, painterly, even peaceful. Stillness surrounds us, the question is can you sit with yourself long enough to hear the silence, to truly feel it, and to gain peace from it.

Also, watching this movie made me realize I might have tinnitus...
