Strangers on a Train

Strangers on a Train

The choice to shoot Miriam's murder through the reflection in her fallen glasses is so elite. First off, it's a really creative and striking image that will stick in the audience's mind; second, it obscures the action and so the audience is forced to fill in the blanks in their mind, making the viewer become more intensely involved in the movie ;third, by focusing on a belonging of Miriam's it never lets us forget who the violence is being done too, centering the victim of the scene. Bruno's "crazy ideas" aren't just goofy and theoretical, but have a legitimate human cost, someone who wore glasses just like many of us.
