"Marvel sparkle circle."
Anything of value brought to completion equates to a formula with variables. What the fuck am I talking about, let's start over.
I love movies. I love going to the theater. This isn't a perfect film and I am not a film critic. Just a fan of cool shit and this was cool-as-shit.
I'm a pretty humble reviewer. This made me think a lot about second chances. How it's never too late to come back from soul crushing events. Failure, despair, healing, rebirth. It's all in this and it's juxtaposed with a hilarity few can rapid fire. It's got gonads to take as many swings as it does and it connects enough to pulverize the ball out of it's saddle shaped leathers.
It is true that some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill. That might be the the axiom of this entire endeavor. As the positive and negative reviews pour in we see that this cannot possibly please everyone. It was never going to. An uphill battle for Reynolds and Co.. Levy cannot direct fight scenes nearly as well as what we've seen in previous MCU films but what a phenomenal spectacle in the Deadpool vs Wolverine fights and the opener is a goddamn whipperino. There is more than enough here to reward any ticket purchased. Naysayers and contrarians are gonna find a way to shred this. And they have the right. But there's no denying Jackman's acting skill. He star shines here. His chemistry with Reynolds is atomic.
I might level out on this after a couple of watches. But currently it's a strong 4. Maybe Reynolds did change history, here, by breaking down some doors for the Mouse to pass through. What happens from here on out is still anyone's guess. Rob Simonsen's score is solid-as-shit and the love poured into the goblet for FOX's early era is heartwarming. Pure kinetic energy with plenty of aces and jokers up it's sleeve. There's a strangeness to the whole affair like a fever dream you'd have in a flu coma that you wished was true. I'd call that a grand compliment.
"Welcome to the MCU. You’re joining at a bit of a low point.”
