How CIB’s partnership with LinkedIn Learning enhanced digital education for the youth of Egypt
SUCCESS STORY
Established in 1975, Commercial International Bank (CIB) is Egypt’s leading private-sector bank. Its mission is to deliver distinct customer services and solutions through innovation and data analytics. With a well-established network of over 200 branches, first-rate remote channels, and digital solutions, CIB provides individuals, households, large corporations, and small businesses with 24/7 support.
CIB has been consistently recognised as the most profitable bank in Egypt and the bank of choice for over 500 of Egypt’s largest corporations. In 2018, CIB was named the World’s Best Bank in Emerging Markets by Global Finance, and, one year before, it was awarded the same title by Euromoney.
Since 2019, Bloomberg has included CIB in its “Gender-Equality Index,” making it the first company in Egypt and Africa to be listed on the index, which includes 230 organisations from 36 countries representing ten sectors.
The bank, headquartered in Cairo, maintains its status as the employer of choice by providing equal opportunities for its staff, as well as investing in empowering its employees.
THE CHALLENGE
Building a solid digital foundation for thousands of undergraduate students
In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world, CIB needed to establish a solid digital learning foundation for its 6,900 employees.
Digital literacy is an integral part of CIB’s employer branding, but this can pose a challenge for some. The Egyptian company required a solution that would help its employees adapt to a non-traditional way of learning, navigate a digital learning platform, and become familiar with its guidelines.
THE SOLUTION
Bridging the skills gap through LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning presented itself as an attractive collaborative opportunity to overcome the challenges faced, as it provided personalised courses and a dynamic and flexible learning experience that helped employees onboard quickly and improve their skill set. The user-friendly platform offered a variety of courses with a focus on SME banking, financial basics, corporate finance, and Fintech.
CIB’s collaboration with LinkedIn Learning served as an effective tool to enrich the bank’s course offerings, broaden employees’ knowledge base, and enhance their ability to embrace evolving dynamics. The bank was impressed with LinkedIn Learning’s one-stop shop educational approach. This partnership solidified the bank’s leadership position as a learning hub for the younger generation, as measured by the 2,000+ licences used by CIB’s employees.
CIB furthered its partnership with LinkedIn Learning during its 2023 summer internship program. “Future Employee for Digital Era” program focused on evolving technological advancements, including Bitcoin, Fintech, AI, and cloud computing. The program reached over 16,000 undergraduates across Egypt. Upon the program’s completion, graduates were given a digital certificate through LinkedIn’s platform. The program helped reshape the labour market as it provided students with a unique and accessible learning experience.
