L-L basketball media day

A pretty busy Friday night on the L-L League girls basketball slate — with some pretty wicked weather blowing around outside — as the days are already ticking by in 2025. Mostly nonleague games on the docket, but a few Section 2 games as well. Here’s the roundup, plus some notables

SECTION 2

Cocalico 41, Elizabethtown 20Corrine Fair hit all five of her 3-pointers in the second quarter, when the Eagles used a 19-3 tear to snare a 23-9 halftime lead and go on to tame the host Bears. Fair scored 17 points for Cocalico, which remained on Ephrata’s heels in the section hunt. Sara Mathias scored 8 points for E-town, which had a 6-4 lead after the first eight minutes. But the Bears couldn’t stop Fair at the arc in Q2.

Solanco 55, Garden Spot 33Saskia Ludgate pumped in a season-high 19 points, the Golden Mules roared to a 37-12 halftime cushion thanks to a 20-3 second-quarter blitz, and Solanco snapped a 2-game slide with a victory over the host Spartans to remain within shouting distance of the section leaders. Niveyah Crabb knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a season-high 13 points for Garden Spot.

NONLEAGUE

Lebanon 61, Donegal 41 — That’s three wins in a row for the host Cedars, who opened the game on a 19-7 clip, and then piled up 29 third-quarter points and skedaddled past the Indians. Kailah Correa (19 points), Liliana Harrison (18 points) and Olive Brandt (15 points) paced Lebanon; Mia Wissler (season-high 17 points) and Hannah Mumper (season-high 10 points) led Donegal, which had a 28-point second half. But the Cedars’ 29 third-quarter points iced it. … Tough turnaround for Lebanon, which will bus it to Harrisburg on Saturday to face reigning D3-6A champ Central Dauphin in a potential playoff preview; LNP coverage from Cedars vs. Rams coming up. Stay tuned.

Manheim Township 57, Conestoga Valley 41 — The Blue Streaks have started a new winning streak. But Township needed a spirited second-half push to top the host Buckskins. Ciniya Robinson (23 points, five 3-pointers), Liv Parmer (15 points) and Brooke Weaver (14 points) sparked the Streaks, who trailed 14-6 early, and were down 23-17 at the half. But Township closed the game on a 40-18 blitz — including a 20-5 spree in the fourth quarter — and rallied past CV. The Streaks were 9-0 before falling to Red Lion in the title game of Township’s holiday tournament last week. Azailya Washington (17 points) and Tia Logan (10 points) paced the Bucks, who saw their losing skid hit three straight. But they’re still right behind Ephrata in the Section 2 hunt. Township is tied with Lebanon for the Section 1 lead; the Cedars come to Neffsville next Friday. Circle it.

Elco 57, Pottsville 44 — The host Raiders roared to a 26-11 lead at the break, then opened up some breathing room with a 20-point third-quarter explosion and picked up their third victory in a row after downing the Crimson Tide. Maddie Stout (19 points, five 3-pointers) and Reece Woelfling (season-high 13 points, three 3-pointers) sparked Elco in the scoring column.

Octorara 42, Bristol 16 — The Braves gassed up the bus and made the hike to Bucks County, and used a 12-2 second-quarter clip for a 16-6 halftime lead, and they trekked it back to Atglen with a victory. Abby Tuel poured in a season-high 23 points for Octorara, which held Bristol to 2 fourth-quarter points and won going away to snap a 4-game slide.

Dallastown 57, Penn Manor 43 — The Wildcats raced out to a 22-9 first-quarter lead, opened up a 31-17 lead at the break, and then fended off the host Comets, who played a spirited second half. Kendall Burger scored 10 points for Penn Manor, which scored 26 second-half points to make Dallastown earn it. The Comets saw their 3-game winning streak come to a halt.

Governor Mifflin 47, Lampeter-Strasburg 38 — The host Pioneers had a 21-19 lead at the half, and trailed just 31-30 through three quarters. Then the Mustangs closed the game on a 16-8 clip and picked up the road W. Kirah Carter scored a season-high 13 points for L-S.

In another Section 2 game on Friday, host Ephrata won its seventh game in a row, and kept a firm grip on the section lead with a victory over rival Warwick. Here’s the story, plus a photo gallery
