WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — If you’re feeling stressed out right now, you’re not alone. It’s practically unavoidable during this pandemic, but there are simple ways to bring down your stress levels a notch.
Licensed Family Therapist Clara Bossie said many people are constantly at a five right now because of the Covid 19 outbreak. “When this happens, it’s really hard to be going through your daily routine and experiencing stress, anxiety all at the same time, so we really can’t be our best selves and make effective decisions,” Bossie said.
Bossie said consider these remedies to take your stress to a safe zone between zero and four:
Temperature – Cold activities can quickly calm you down, like a splash of cool water or holding an ice pack to the face.
Exercise – Do things that come natural to you, like a short bike ride or walk around the house.
Paced Breathing – Inhale for three seconds. Exhale for four seconds.
Progressive Muscle Relaxation – Clench parts of your body for a few seconds and release.
Bossie said it’s important to remember that everyone’s scale is different, and don’t try to compare your stress levels to others.
