Description

Blushing is the involuntary reddening of the person's face due to embarrassment or emotional stress. Since people are three times cuter (this has been scientifically verified) when blushing, it has become a standard tool in the anime industry's moe-slinging arsenal.

In anime-style artwork this often appears as a bright red patch either across the center of the character's face or two separate patches under the eyes, and accompanying "blush lines" are also common. On rare occasions when a character is extremely flustered their entire head may light up with blush.

A recent trend is to draw characters with a slight degree of permanent blush, either with the above style (*cough* Misaka Mikoto *cough*) or using blush "stickers".

Use

• Tag when seen, though the tag can be foregone in instances of very minor blush (on the lower spectrum of the "constantly reddened cheeks" phenomenon as described above)
