EURid publishes its Q3 2024 highlights

28 Oct. 2024

In its Q3 2024 report, EURid highlighted key developments in sustainability and online security. A major achievement was EURid’s recertification under the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), reaffirming its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Simultaneously, EURid continued efforts to comply with the Belgian transposition of the NIS2 Directive, aimed at enhancing security and transparency in domain name management.

As part of its ongoing commitment to online security, EURid launched the EURidity system, which automates the identity verification process for domain name holders. This system plays a critical role in detecting suspicious domain names. Between January and July 2024, 33,987 domain names were flagged as suspicious, compared to 18,763 during the same period in 2023, reflecting increased security measures.

Operationally, EURid saw 170,211 new domain name registrations in Q3 2024, a 7.75% increase from Q3 2023's 157,962 registrations. The total number of .eu registrations reached 3,670,426. The renewal rate remained steady at 83%, indicating strong retention among domain holders.
