Came by for the bougie tasting option to try out plant based omakase. The location is a bit chaotic right off Times Square. However the interior is done very well and there's a slight "speakeasy" vibe since there isn't signage and the sushi bar is tucked away in the back of a hotel bar. The ambiance is great - dark and upscale like you're eating in a hidden study. It's a very similar vibe to other sushi by Bou locations. Extensive drinks and cocktails menu. Service was attentive.

The service started about 10 minutes over. We were about two minutes late to our reservation and received a call right as we were walking into the hotel. They are pretty strict about on time arrivals.

The seatings are small format with room for maybe 8-10 people. The chef we had was very engaged and clearly passionate about his menu and selections. He constantly asked for feedback and opinions and was generally very fun to talk to.

I liked how everything was sushi inspired but nothing was trying to be "fake fish". Instead the chef did a great job of bringing out individual flavors of all the different starches, vegetables and other items served. The sauces were all fantastic and really added to the flavor complexity.

Pricing is a bit steep. The bougie option was $100 per which is high considering you can get regular seafood omakase in NYC for that price. However the experience feels elevated and unique so it ended up worth it.

Omakaseed at the Sanctuary Hotel in Manhattan is a plant-based omakase restaurant that opened on February 14, 2024. Located at 132 W 47th Street, it offers a unique and upscale vegan dining experience with a Japanese twist. The restaurant provides two options for its omakase: an 11-course meal for $60 and a 15-course meal for $100.

The concept is designed by the team behind Sushi by Bou and aims to elevate plant-based cuisine through innovative dishes that focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some standout menu items include Coconut Ceviche, Charred Sweet Potato with brûléed miso mayo, and King Oyster Mushroom Nigiri with faux gras truffle kabayaki Omakaseed's setting is intimate and library-inspired, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The warm inviting seating deep within the heart of the sanctuary hotel gives you possibly the only option of vegan omakase in nyc. The atmosphere is of a quiet library den. The sushi chef explains every dish and the base of each, a complex combination of flavors designed to trick your mouth and brain into believing you are indeed a pescatarian today.

There is no way to keep up with what you are eating as each dish is described in detail and made on the spot with care. I tried to write things down but I've already forgotten the details of the trip. I just remember that yes I can have omakase without the need to consume animal products and no it's actually good.

If you are into real omakase this may not be enough for you. I continue to enjoy the creativity of the chefs that try to elevate vegan food beyond fake meat chicken nuggets and burgers.

First vegan omakase experience was mostly delicious. While not every course hit home there were some really good ones. Chef was wonderful and service was great.

Omakaseed was beyond everything we could imagine. The setting was perfect to celebrate my partners birthday dinner. We enjoyed the vegan 15 course Omakase, it was delicious and very filling. The staff was very polite and proffesional. Chef David was great and did an amazing job explaining the ingredients to us while still making conversation with his guest. We cannot wait to come back for their summer menus starting mid June!

The cocktails were very tasty as well and the have a bar four side the restaurant so you can enjoy one prior to your reservation time.

Fantastic overall experience. The 15 course dining experience was delightful and intimate. My husband and I should up about 15 minutes early for our meal and the staff were pleasant and supportive, even providing complimentary sake while we waited for the table/seating. The location was elegant and provided wonderful opportunities for conversation with the chef and other diners. The food pushed this experience over the top with creative and delicious dishes. As a life-long vegetarian, this experience provided some of the most flavorful and accessible japanese-style dishes I have tried. For me, every dish hit well, albeit differently, which is hard to do. We also learned that they have a seasonal menu, regularly introducing new items every couple of months. Safe to say, we will be back next time with are in Manhattan.

This was a great experience. Took family here. Four of us were vegetarian and really loved it, and even the two non-vegetarians really enjoyed it as well. Would definitely go again!
