Is anyone having an issue reaching them to make a reservation?

Q:
Do they accept walk ins on Wednesdays? Because I'm going with two other friends so I can't make a reservation.
A:
They always accept walk-ins. The weekends get busy so that's when a reservation is good; with reservations the whole party has to be in attendance to be seated.

I haven't had KBBQ in a while, but some friends who are regulars invited me to dinner here on a Saturday night and we had a blast!
They don't take reservations on the weekend, so be prepared to arrive and put your name on a waitlist that can be up to an hour long, which was about how long our party of 4 waited. (The good news is you can easily find a spot nearby to have a drink at while you wait)
We were seated at one of the many booths with the meat grill in the middle and given 2 large bottles of water for the table. We started by ordering 2 bottles of peach soju, which was the flavor my friends recommended, although they said they wish they offered yogurt soju.
We ordered the Large Beef Platter with La Kalbi Corn Cheese, Soondubu Jjigae, a Kimchi Pancake and the Ddukbokki (Spicy Rice Cake) with Crispy Noodle Rolls.
The Large Beef Platter is designed to feed 3-4 people, and I can safely say this kept 3 of us stuffed! Members of the staff come around and bring the meat and cook it for you at the table in rounds, so as you eat, more meat is being cooked, which is wonderful because it's always hot and fresh! Accompanied with the meats lettuce to make wraps, salt, oil, sauce, and kimchi, as well as some vegetables and mushrooms from the grill. The pieces were sooo tender and delicious, I forgot to use the sauce for most of it! The accompanying corn cheese side was pretty good, but not a favorite.
One of my favorite parts of the meal was this tofu/egg like soup that was served. I really enjoy eggy flavors, so this was perfect for me and was steaming hot! I enjoyed the crispiness of the kimchi pancake and the flavors were balanced well. Finally, the spicy rice cake dish was wonderful in the gochujang sauce and the crispy rolls we opted for were soooo good. I can't really describe the flavor but it was incredibly tasty.
I absolutely cannot wait to return and try other meat platters on the menu. I do wish they took reservations during the weekends but other than that, an all around a great experience to reintroduce me to Korean Barbecue!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4383322046 Nov 2024
We made a reservation ahead of time - recommended!
We got the marinated meat set and an additional soondubu. Meat set was good for 4 women! Meats were flavorful and all the sides were great too!
Soondubu was easy to share with 4 people too for a taste.
Service was good and they cook the meat for you which is always a good experience. Also the inside looks like a Korean village which I love!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 18 Oct 2024
YUM YUM YUM!
In all my years living in NYC, Jongro has always been the classic spot for traditional KBBQ and it's crazy that I've never been. You have to go up floors in a tiny elevator but right when you enter the restaurant, it is absolutely adorable. The ambiance is electric and busy and the decor makes it feel like you're transported into a different era. Our server was very attentive and always made sure we had enough water and napkins. The meat quality was great and the banchan were all delicious. But the star? I would have to say is the Seafood Pancake (not pictured.) I still think to this day about the pancake and controversial take, but it might be the best I've ever had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 12 Oct 2024
Looking for a kbbq spot in ktown. When in doubt go to Jongro. You can't go wrong with the food. The staff were really attentive, just constantly serving us the food and grilling our meat. (Might have been a bit too attentive, I didn't get a chance to take a pic of my kimchi pancake and mandu
and they were already placed on our plates not complaining tho)
Food:
We got your staple complimentary banchans. (You can ask for unlimited refills)
Our meal came with a bowl of eggs that you cook over the grill and a stew
We ordered:
Large Marinated Beef Platter
Beef Tongue
Kimchi Pancake (no pic)
Fried Dumplings (no picHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 101423966717 Sept 2024
Jongro is a staple Korean barbecue spot in K-Town with a lively, social, and fun ambiance. I hadn't been there in a year, so I decided to bring my high school friends who had never tried Korean barbecue before. We visited on a Thursday around 6 PM.
A heads-up: Jongro doesn't take reservations, so be prepared to line up if it's a busy day. Also, they require that your entire party be present to be seated. I ran into an issue where I arrived early to reserve a table for three, but the hostess said my table would only be ready when my other two friends arrived. When they finally showed up, the line had grown, and I was told we'd have to wait another 20 minutes because of the initial delay. I questioned why they couldn't have put me on the line earlier, but the policy is that all parties need to be present for the reservation process.
Despite the initial hiccup, we waited the 20 minutes because I really wanted my friends to experience Jongro.
When we finally sat down, we ordered the Cold Noodles with Spicy Sauce and the Large Beef Platter, which came with a side of Steamed Eggs and Army Stew. The staff was great about helping us grill the meat, which was delicious. The cold noodles were a perfect palate cleanser, the eggs were soft and light, and the army stew had a nice kick of spice.
Despite the reservation policy issues, Jongro remains my go-to Korean barbecue spot in K-Town.Helpful 4Thanks 3Love this 5Oh no 0 - 4 Oct 20242 check-ins
The place is beautiful and authentic. It is on the second floor of a building, but there wasn't signs to obviously show you where to go to reach the restaurant. The hostess on the first floor was monotone, unwelcome, unfriendly. Once we got up? The hostess on the second floor was welcoming and sweet. She showed us to our table immediately. The waiter was quick to get us water and help answer questions.
We didn't do BBQ tonight but really wished we had. What we ordered was still very good.
- tofu stew
- spicy pork dish
- glass noodles with beef
- bimbimbop x 2
Everything was wonderful. My favorite was the tofu soup. Two of my group members thought that the spicy pork was their favorite. And the fourth member of my group loved the bimbim bop.
The sides were really good. They gave us refills but only once of the sides. The egg side was my favorite.
We will definitely come again. And next time we will get the bbq!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 423815404 Oct 2024
We ordered the beef platter, which was perfect for two people. The BBQ setup with the grill in the center and all the banchan (side dishes) made the meal an experience.
Pro tip: Arrive early or be prepared for a line, because this place is seriously popular! Would you wait in line for some epic K-BBQ? Let me know below!

My daughter took me to her favorite restaurant in NYC late on Friday night after a long week. It was intense!
Right away I knew this was probably the real deal as to get there you go in a building without much of a sign and get on an elevator to the second floor. On this night there must have been something else going in the building as one guy had a golf club and a lot of club kids going somewhere. Anyway, when we walked in the clientele was mostly Korean and K Pop was absolutely blasting from the speakers.
We had beers and the Soju in front of us in seconds. Within a few minutes, E ordered and food started coming, and coming and coming some more. It was really good.
The soup was feisty, the rice cakes were spicey, and the beef was grilling. 1.5 hours later I wanted a bed as I was so full and a little buzzed from the beer.
Fun place with good vibes. As this is E's favorite place we will be back :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Fortitudetude ..Edinburg, United States274565 Nov 2024
Went on a Sunday evening time (5:30 pm), no wait but did see that within 15-20 min there came a crowd of people and they had to wait a bit
Warm lighting, wooden interior brings out nostalgia. Interestingly, we were moved to the back in the room with white fluorescent lighting and non wooden interior (we got seated in a larger table so unclear why we were moved)
We got the marinated beef platter. It says 2-3 people but realistically feeds 2 people. Wasn't hungry afterwards but wasn't stuffed either.
3 meat parts. 2nd meat part was our favorite out of the three (tender). The staff cooks the meat.
Kimchi is on the sweet-sour side. Wish the veggie sides could be refilled. We didn't ask but we weren't offered the option either.
It's got the essentials- steamed egg, corn cheese, soy bean soup, sauces, and veggie sides.
Portion In moderation for the dinner price. Fair/standard taste overall.
It's a decent place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
