Welcome to Ahimsa Academy: a school that works with the Philosophy one in context of the Non-killing Studies one!
A school is a large organizational structure which can contain various departments and divisions. The departments and divisions should be listed in the departments and divisions section. The school should not contain any learning resources. The school can contain projects for developing learning resources.
(paraphrase of Socrates answering the following question) 'What should a Philosopher eat?:' '[Plants.]' He may have said cheese, but Pythagoras is only recorded as being vegan.
Intro & Mission Statement
[edit | edit source]Ahimsa Academy is a neo-Platonic Academy, so it advocates gnosticism, and so it requires studies that may be outside the historical context of neo-Platonism, particularly of Dharma. Ahimsa is a Sanskrit word in Dharma which means harmlessness. Orpheus, Pythagoras, arguably Socrates & Plato & the neo-Platonist scholars practiced ahimsa or at least altruism such as veg(etari)anism. The kshatriyas and monastic martial artists of the Orient also generally practice ahimsa to the extent that they can. In gnosticism, including physics of Classical times, i.e. esoteric mysticism, the mystic principle of love/harmlessness is a pre-requisite--in the context of esoterism. As for mathematics, an important part of Philosophy, one may not be able to be gnostic. Some ideas are proven to be unknowable! However, in other Philosophical studies & practices such as ethics it is generally agreed upon what the truth is--at least in such a 'perennial & universal Philosophy,' i.e. Theosophy, i.e. (because of what Theosophy studies) Philosophy, i.e. (because Philosophy is capitalized) Platonic school as this.
This is a place for those who are interested in ahimsa ethics and beyond--the dharma--vidya--gnosticism--Platonism--to learn and teach. It is an school of general Philosophy & academia and advanced esoterism in which just about anything is on-topic, including topics combined from the 2 schools that are joined here: such as practical ahimsa, and esoterism & selflessness (the latter pair also in the metaphysics topic in the Philosophy school.) Feel free to discuss topics in any Wikiversity school in context or if it is a topic that you use to learn or teach Classical Philosophy.

Active participants

If you are an active participant in this school, you can list your name here in alphabetical order (this can help small schools grow and the participants communicate better; for large schools it is not needed).
