Block evasions

[edit]

For the record, the above list is mostly incorrect. It should not be okay for a user with nothing more than a hunch to falsely edit my history as if it were fact. — Film Fan 15:51, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

The behavior Lugnuts complained about is something I learned from him, and something he continues to do. I have demonstrated clearly that I can co-operate with others and avoid edit wars. Lugnuts has been behind every block or attempted block made, simply because I outwitted him as newbie, several years ago. I can refrain from editing redirects, sure... but when the person complaining about that is doing it themself, it kind of makes you think, "hang on, I guess that is allowed after all". You know? If I put the time and effort into penalizing other users the way Lugnuts does, I'd have him indeffed by now, but I prefer to focus on content than peers, and I'm not a spiteful twat. Also, the edit in question was correct. — Film Fan 20:19, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Unblock requests that only discuss the behavior of others are not considered, see WP:NOTTHEM. You were blocked for what you did, not for what others did. Only you are responsible for your own behavior. If you wish to address your behavior, you may make another unblock request; I am declining this one. 331dot (talk) 20:43, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Following a community discussion at ANI, I have enacted an indefinite site-ban. You may appeal this ban after six months - without ban evasion - through the standard offer. Regards, GABgab 15:14, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I don't think I'll be coming back/appealing. I'll only get blocked again - especially with Lugnuts' personal vendetta. Even now, Lugnuts is reverting past valid edits of mine (as he does) in a clear effort to goad me into socking. What a pathetic little weasel. Adios. — Film Fan 22:47, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Maniac (TV series).png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Maniac (TV series).png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ban appeal

[edit]

This blocked user is asking that their block be reviewed on the Unblock Ticket Request System:

UTRS appeal #27121 was submitted on Oct 13, 2019 21:29:31. This review is now closed.

--UTRSBot (talk) 21:29, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Noting for the record I declined the request as inactionable, being a community-imposed ban it can't be lifted by a single admin via UTRS. However, since it has been a while, I have restored talk page access so that they may appeal the ban on-wiki. I have also advised them that any further disruption here can and will result in that action being reversed. Any admin seeing abusive talk page messages is free to go ahead and do so without consulting me first. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:44, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello from the wilderness! It's a long time now since my account was blocked, and a long time too since I last socked (yes, I'm a poet). When I did sock, it was only to make valid additions, but still, it's a long time since I have, despite one user regularly adding other users to the wildly inaccurate list of socks here on my talk page. One of the users incorrectly blocked as a result of being a suspected sock was called User:Filmnfan, and they had many good edits, and I was so gutted that they were blocked on account of me that I reached out to the blocking admin and the user who accused me, in order to put it right and try to provide evidence to help them. Somehow that didn't work, and in fact only persuaded the blocking admin that I must be them. I am intrigued to know how that came about. I wanted to reach out to Filmnfan as well but they had email disabled. As well as reviewing my situation, I urge you to take another look at their incorrect block, as it is totally unfair.
Anyway, I've had a lot of time to sort my life out, and particularly my mental health, which often caused me to bite when certain users dangled carrots. I have waited longer than I might have done to appeal my block, as I needed the time out from many things to make sure I won't return to old ways. I would very much like the opportunity to prove that I can operate completely without problems, and I would simply stay clear of any user (one in particular) who doesn't want me here. I have learnt techniques (thanks to the wonderful Chimp Paradox) that have sorted out such problems in real life, and I can apply them successfully on here, too. There is much that I can offer to this community, and I would be willing to accept any restrictions if it meant being able to begin my return. I will never lash out at another user again, I will never engage in an edit war again, and I will be completely respectful of other users and the policies we have here, and I won't edit redirects to prevent page move reversions.
Thanks for taking the time to consider this issue. Peace — Film Fan 19:16, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm sorry, this isn't funny. Are you just deliberately wasting our time? You were evading your block in September, 2019. On top of that, you are not just blocked, you are banned. That means no admin may lift the ban. The only way forward is to convince the community that you can be trusted again, despite multiple instances of ban evasion. Frankly, given that you've repeatedly promised to change only to show you haven't, and given you were evading your ban just last month, there's no hope the above request would be sufficient to convince the community. You've been a problem for more than seven years. You aren't even eligible to apply under WP:SO, though if you were, you'd need a substantially more compelling justification than, essentially, "Trust me, I've changed. Unlike all the other times I've said this, I really mean it this time." Try again no sooner than six months from today, and only if you refrain from engaging in any further ban evasion and only if you can write a substantially more compelling unban request, one that has at least a chance of obtaining community consensus. Hint: "When I did sock, it was only to make valid additions" is a guarantee the ban won't be overturned. Yamla (talk) 18:12, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi Yamla. I didn't evade my block last month. As I said, it's been a long time since I socked, and that ostensible sock was listed erroneously, along with various others, by someone who isn't even an admin. If someone with admin tools actually looks into it, you'll see I'm telling the truth. I understand that if I had been socking in recent months, this request would indeed be a joke. I'd be very grateful if my situation could be reviewed. Thank you — Film Fan 19:57, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Let me try this again, for what will almost certainly be the last time. You cannot be unblocked bya simple block request here, you need to make a statement that admins can present to the community for review, as you are subject to a community-imposed ban, which a single admin can not overturn. None of your previous requests were even worthy of a hearing they are so ridiculous and disjointed. Failure to post a coherent, reasonable ban appeal to be presented to the community can and will result in talk page access being revoked again. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:05, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
