Dan Ashley's on-air times

[edit]

so, there's been a quiet 'edit war' going on for the last month or more, where one or more anonymous editors (IP only) have been changing the on-air times for Dan Ashley from "9 and 11" to "6, 9, and 11". the edit gets reverted usually the same day. then a few days later it's changed again. i've seen this at least a dozen times now. regrettably, i don't have the time or inclination to sit through three KGO-TV newscasts to determine what the true and correct listing is; for that matter, i don't think there is a hard-and-fast schedule, particularly during the summer when people are taking time off so others fill in (not to mention the disruption to the schedule with the recent loss of Pete Wilson). can some more intrepid editor get the facts, and maybe even add a ref for it, so this silly back-and-forth can stop? it'd be great, really. thanks. more than a month later, the idiotic back and forth continues. is dan ashley on at just 9 and 11, or is he on at 6, 9, and 11? dear god, will we ever have an authoritative answer to this burning conflict? film at eleven. so to speak. Anastrophe 03:34, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I used to work there, right next to "Dash." It's 6, 9, and 11. He said when it started he felt "like a hamster running on a wheel." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.180.44.133 (talk) 07:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Teresa Garcia

[edit]

Sadly, a similar issue is happening when trying to add Teresa Garcia to the former news team list! Teresa was at the station for five years, contributing as both a reporter and Saturday morning anchor. Seems unnecessarily unprofessional for the individual to keep removing her name. Shall be contacting wikipedia to get the ip address of the individual responsible so this issue can be addresses directly via Disney / ABC. Facts are facts unless censorship is now the new standard of wikipedia reporting.

Addressing Two Things: Vandalism in This Article and Unreferenced Entries of Former Employees

[edit]

I am addressing the article's previous edits in regards to two things. Please note the reasons for the following:

  • First, I am noticing that the article has been going back and forth in terms of reverting edits. I do ask to please be very careful and read all guidelines.
  • Second, I do ask that all users editing this article to not add unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material, as per the appropriate guidelines as per what Deconstructhis stated. The article's previous reverting by a user has caught my attention, and has deleted the that important information in terms of adding unreferenced entries. I do ask that users do not delete them at all, as those provide valuable information regarding this.

Please also read WP:BAN and WP:BLOCK, as I will watch. If anyone has any additions or comments, please note them here. CHAK 001 (talk) 08:50, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To whomever is editing this and suggesting that my edit is wrong, please fact check. Firstly, Wikipedia is an open environment that allows all users to contribute to articles. Secondly, you do not own nor have right to determine content, especially if it is factual; and thirdly, Teresa Garcia worked at this station for five years, a simple google search will verify this. It is unclear to me what proof you as an editor require, but I am prepared to engage Wikipedia directly to ensure if this page is to remain published Teresa Garcia is Included as a long term serving member of the news team. I also note that you have removed Janelle Wang. Perhaps the editor has a personal motivation here in falsely editing this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.84.12.188 (talk) 07:09, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have warned you (and that is your only warning) against those on your talk page, and now not only that you have breached my edits, but also the original user's notice as well. In addition, the one that you mentioned about determining content is not true, especially when it has stated in Decontructhis's rules. I have read his rules, and I go by whatever rules that user says. Although it is primarily not my responsibility to do such things, I do keep watch of any pages and look for anything that I see as vandalism. This includes what was said above. So that you are able to verify Teresa Garcia, please go the the KGO website and type in "Teresa Garcia" in the search bar at the top of the KGO Home page. This search query will pull back over 400 videos of Teresa reporting and anchoring for KGO. If this is not "verifiable" enough for you, then you can also go to http://www.youtube.com/gotnuz here you will find archival videos. If these example are still not sufficient evidence, then click the following cached Google link: http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/bio?section=ontv/stationinfo/bios&id=3809252 . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.84.12.188 (talk) 01:42, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I do apologize for the delay response. First of all, and unfortunately, there is no Wikipedia article on Teresa Garcia. Even if I did create the article, that would be deleted due to possible copy-editing from the webpage. In general, YouTube is not considered a reliable source in the external links section as per WP:YT (copyright violation). It also stated that "many YouTube videos of newscasts, shows or other content of interest to Wikipedia visitors are copyright violations and should not be linked to." I could attempt to ask administrators about such, but I do believe that the editors will reject it. In my early days of editing, I have done as such, however, I currently do not use YouTube as a reliable source without proper permission. Second of all, I noticed a link to Garcia's bio at KGO's website. As per WP:V (verifiability) , I do verify it, but using two methods (one is the link, the other is via the News Team section). I was trying to abide by what Deconstructhis said about adding unreferenced entries as per BLP material. Because of WP:YT and WP:V, along with the unreferenced entries as per BLP material, both Deconstructhis and I attempted to remove it, and that was why I deny those sources that was given to me. Excuse me, but I would like to have myself a word here... It seems like this conflict has gone on long enough. Although I am a SF Bay Area resident, I would like to have some form of verifiable source on this information. I just happen to be stopping by this page and I see this nasty discussion going on. After all, Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, but trustworthy information such as internet articles should be placed on here - or else there is a violation to other people's rights on knowledge when receiving the information, because information can be easily warped. And about censorship, Wikipedia has censored and/or deleted so many articles for so many different reasons, such as being objective, not having enough citation, incorrectly sourcing, and vandalism. But there is a limit on stupidity about this article... I see both points of interest, but infringing on that right to knowledge is unacceptable. If you happen to be a primary source, please note that, because my news generally comes from KNTV, that is the San Francisco Bay Area's NBC Affiliate.Yakitatefreak(talk) 07:00, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Janelle Wang No Longer Works At KGO

[edit]

She was let go around June 10. Kristen Sze may have left, as well, and possibly replaced by Karina Rusk. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.252.210.35 (talk) 15:49, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
