Dealing with vandalism
Hello, thanks for trying to deal with vandalism on Wikipedia. I noticed your work when you had reverted one edit by an IP user to Gravitron, but you had missed the other one. While looking through your contributions, I noticed that you sometimes completely reverted consecutive vandalism edits, like at Simon Newcomb, so I imagine the "Gravitron" problem was an oversight. However, it's more useful to note the user who made the edit you reverted to rather than its revision ID – in the Simon Newcomb example, it would'be been better to write "rv to last version by Chris55" in the edit summary.

It's also very useful if you can warn vandals – especially if their edits are recent – and check their contributions. Tools like Twinkle can make it easier to deal with vandalism.

However, it's more useful to note the user who made the edit you reverted to rather than its revision ID – in the Simon Newcomb example, it would've been better to write "rv to last version by Chris55" in the edit summary.

It's also very useful if you can warn vandals – especially if their edits are recent – and check their contributions. Tools like Twinkle can make it easier to deal with vandalism. Graham87 09:54, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
