The late Mr. G. J. Evenden who has been Chairman of the Woothakata Shire Council for 20 years, the last 17 years being consecutive. The deceased gentleman was in his 79th year, and was one of the oldest and most respected residents in mining districts. His connection with local government was an unique one, his continuous record as Chariman of the local body at Thornborough constituting a record for Queensland.
