Description Florence Hill Mines, Goldfield NV. Gold was discovered in 1902. Goldfield laid claim to being the richest gold-mining camp in the world. From 1904 through 1918 the total gross production was $83,685,485. During this period, gold was $20.67 per ounce. At todays price for gold this would be almost 2 billion dollars.
