DescriptionCliburn station (remains) geograph-3111451-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Cliburn station (remains), 1986,
View eastward, towards Kirkby Stephen: ex-NER Penrith - Kirkby Stephen - Barnard Castle - Darlington line. This is near Penrith, at the western end of this celebrated trans-Pennine 'Stainmore Line', which closed finally on 22/1/62, and Cliburn station had closed on 17/9/56 - 30 years before this photograph. So the survival of the signalbox is remarkable, even if the station has been restored privately.
