Source needed
[edit]I've snipped this sentence:
- It was reported that a suicide note was found inside the vehicle.
I don't think it should go in the article in the passive voice. Someone needs to find a source citation for this. Where does this information come from? Naturally, I think it is highly plausible that Andrew Fluegelman committed suicide, but "plausible" isn't good enough for this kind of assertion. Dpbsmith (talk) 15:13, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't know if this is official enough, but it's the only source I've seen:
http://textfiles.fisher.hu/news/freeware.txt
Towards the end of the article, Kevin Strehlo, the author of the article which appeared in NEWSBYTES (dated 7/30/85), an electronic publication available on The Source (tm), states:
"Fluegelman had been missing for about a week when his car was found parked near the toll plaza on the Marin County side of the Golden Gate Bridge, the site of so many of his moments of inspiration. Friends say a suicide note was found inside. His family held a memorial service in New York the following Sunday."
I remember being shocked deeply by the news. I worked as the production manager for Community Type and Design, so knew Andrew and worked on two of his books. He was steady, optimistic, intelligent, soft spoken, creative and very successful as a publisher, so the news of his apparent suicide was inconceivable.
- I'd say put it in, carefully phrasing the way you cite the source. The important thing is to have a source, which people can verify has been quoted accurately and in context, and is represented in a way such that people can judge its reliability. Actually I'll go do it. Dpbsmith (talk) 13:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- That works very well for me. Thanks.
I think you guys should check this out.
[edit]Andrew Fluegelman's profile on the Charley Project website
The Charley Project is a website devoted to cataloguing missing persons' cases in the United States, many of which are decades old. Fluegelman's disappearance is one of the cases profiled on the site; they reiterate some of the things echoed in the Wiki article, but they also state some things which are apparently controversial in nature around here. They include a list of agencies they've gotten the information from. Perhaps this could be a source of information? (Krushsister 01:50, 1 November 2006 (UTC))
Andrew Fluegelman's disappearance
[edit]I am editing this stub as a project about American editors for my editing course at Towson University. I was reading the Charley Project page about Andrew Fluegelman's disappearance (Andrew Fluegelman at the Charley Project), and it mentioned some information about the medication he was taking for colitis when he disappeared. According to the Charley Project site, the side effects of this medication include depression and periods of mental confusion. This might be significant information to include in the section about his disappearance.

I read a fiction piece that had a description of a suicide that was a description of AF's presumed suicide. Anyone know that fiction work? Conscientia (talk) 02:26, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Photograph of Andrew Fluegelman
[edit]I have been trying to locate a photograph of Andrew Fluegelman for this Wikipedia article. I found one on the website mentioned above, Andrew Fluegelman's profile on the Charley Project website, which is licensed under Creative Commons. However, when I emailed Meaghan Good who maintains the site, she explained that the photos of the Missing Persons are not included under the Creative Commons License. She gave me her original source for the image: Missing Person: Andrew Cardoza Fluegelman. Both websites provide a case number for Fluegelman's disappearance in 1985, as well as a phone number for the Tiburon Police Department, which investigated the case. I would suggest that anyone interested in finding a photograph of Fluegelman should start by calling this police department and/or locating news archives from Tiburon, CA for the year he disappeared. I know the photo is out there on other sites, so it would be great to get a Creative Commons image to use for this Wikipedia article as well. Kath1122 (talk) 22:16, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Kath1122
I remember reading the Memoriam page in PCWorld at the time and it had a photo. There are photos of him in the New Games Book or second one. Conscientia (talk) 02:26, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Subheads under Career not needed?
[edit]Hi. I'm wondering if the subheads under Career are necessary, since two only have one or two sentences under them. I like the footnote about Fluegelman's disappearance. It documents the controversy well enough, I think. Mportolano (talk) 15:09, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
