One Slight Problem with the Amusing Anecdote about the 11-Yard Punt
[edit]Jerry DePoyster played in 27 games for the Raiders in 1971 and 1972, but only once against the New York Jets. The Jets scored one touchdown (along with 3 field goals) during their December 11, 1972 battle with the Raiders in Oakland, which the Raiders won 24-16. That touchdown was not on a 13 yard punt return. It wasn't on special teams at all: Joe Namath threw a 49 yard pass to Rich Caster.
However, in the 1972 season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, DePoyster did have a punt blocked and returned 5 yards for a touchdown.
