cut down to what's verifiable
Hi all... I'm Dave from Switzerland. This Sentence: "His integrity has been in question ever since he verified a score of a videotape that appeared to be doctored. This was documented in King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters." is not important cause the whole movie is - like all that new bowling for columbine-style american docu-movies - very manipulative and doesn't show the whole truth. So I would say this doesn't count. Especially not for a sentence in the header! --dave
This should be cut down to material about walter day, with less unsourced storytelling. There is a lot of info that should be in other articles about events described; maybe an indication of copyright troubles. +sj + 07:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Something tells me that the bulk of this article was written by Walter Day...68.211.8.101 (talk) 15:38, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
99% of this was obviously written by Day himself, which is in clear violation of Wikipedia policy. Besides that, very little of this is relevant to what makes Day semi-notable, his forming and maintaining Twin Galaxies.OOo Pharaoh (talk) 02:01, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- It had to have been written by him. There is too many instances of specific information without any sources (the part about the history of his middle name is neither cited or particularly notable). I mean, I hate to suggest this, but a lot of this article just needs to be deleted until more credible sources come to light. Arghcodie (talk) 00:40, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, me again. I was checking into the history of the page, and noticed one particular ip kept coming up over and over again. "69.18.3.232." Checking into it, the anonymous poster seems to have added to this page and Twin Galaxies page almost exclusively. Maybe the IP should be contacted in regards to the anonymity of it all; they should be told they can create an account. Maybe the ip should be limited to other pages? It just seems fishy, is all. Sorry to keep digging : \ Arghcodie (talk) 00:46, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Looking up 69.18.3.232 gives details of the following internet service provider, based in Fairfield, Iowa, USA:

- That's the same city as Walter Day's address:
- Walter Day, founder/ president
- walter@twingalaxies.com
- Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard
- 600 North Third Street
- Fairfield, IA 52556
- http://www.twingalaxies.com
- Obviously, it could just be written by someone else in the city though (population 9,000). Whatever the origin, the article is definitely overlong.
I Don't think its overlong. I just saw King Of Kong and Chasing Ghosts yesterday, and Walter Day is now - even if he is somwhat strange - something like an idol for me. I mean this guy did exactly what i wanted as a child. For me as a european kid of the 8 bit generation, highscores never meant anything. I just dreamed of competitive gaming. As I saw this movies I was absolutely fascinated by these ideas! --dave
You've been found out Walter. ;) Anonywiki (talk) 22:19, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
Once again, Wikipedia fails completely at being an encyclopedia because their isn't a shitty HuffPo article about the well-documented and highly notable cheating incident that he helped cover up. For shame. 2600:6C44:4180:40BA:248F:380E:B74F:F4B5 (talk) 18:02, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
Why only Ottumwa location mentioned?
Soon after openning the first Twin Galaxies in Ottumwa, Walter openned one sixty-odd miles south in Kirksville, Missouri. There's no mention of it. Several records were set & verified at the Kvill location, and in fact for awhile there was a friendly border rivalry between gamers at the two Twin Galaxies. I (or maybe my parents lol) personally added many hundreds, nay thousands of dollars in quarters to Walters fortune in the early 80s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.116.149.95 (talk) 23:23, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- If you have a source for that information, that could indeed be added to the article. TimidGuy (talk) 11:08, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Multiple issues
I tagged the article for multiple issues, as it makes extraordinary claims that are only sourced in the subject's own website, i.e. Twin Galaxies. Asav (talk) 21:24, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Good call, I've cleaned it up and removed the tag. Thanks.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 17:14, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Transcendental Meditation
I've given it a mention because it mentioned in a couple of sources that he does TM. He's also listed at List of Transcendental Meditation practitioners. However, if someone feels the mention should be moved to the Personal section or that that its not worthy of a mention in the article, then I'm open to discussion on the topic. Peace,-- — Keithbob • Talk • 17:14, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
