I wrote "20th" because the forgery probably happened around 1910-15. Of course we cannot rule out the 19th CE but the high times of forgerey were the early 20th. --Harnack (talk) 20:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can it be said that the text possibly did not start out as a forgery but became one - ie 'someone' commissioned 'a perfect replica done in the original style', which then became an autonomous object: this has been known to happen (as is the tradition of copying existing manuscripts in a religions context.
