Reason for this page
This page was made to expand the general knowledge of the public about accelerator physics. MTE was discussed a little on a few pages, but I felt that it needed its own page because it is important in linear accelerators. That being said, this page could use some more content and sources to make it a better page. Catbeams (talk) 16:33, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- I believe the definition of MTE is incorrect as in the papers cited MTE is 2<Ex>=<P^2>/2m which is not the same as
^2. MTE is defined by the variance of the momentum distribution as described by; David H. Dowell and John F. Schmerge. "Quantum efficiency and thermal emittance of metal photocathodes." They go into detail on calculating the variance of the momentum. GiantCupcakes (talk) 16:42, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
