Ioan II Mavrocordat (1712-1747) was prince of Moldva from 1743 to 1747.

Life

Younger son of Nicolas Mavrocordato he remains in the shadow of his elder brother Constantin Mavrocordato. He replaces the latter in Moldova on the occasion of one of his many changes of office as Hospodar of Moldova from July 1743 to May 1747.

Ioan II Mavrocordat had married Maria Giuliano and Sultana Mano successively, of whom he had:

  • Alexander II Mavrocordato said 'Phyrares (1754-1819), Great Drogman of the Sublime Porte, then Hospodar of Moldavia and finally Prince Russian.
