November 2006

Lee Isaacs is in my opinion one of the most influential artists in the South. He was only one of tow artists included in "UpSouth" and very noted exhibition about artists inthe south through Space One Eleven who is funded by Andy Warhol Foundation. He was also a stable at AGNES, a notable photography gallery and was editor for Alabama Art Monthly He has also worked in film with "Johnny Floyton" 2002 He lectures and teaches camera techniques and is a visiting artis to many colleges and universities in the south.

I hope this helps.

Also, after much thought and consideration on my part. I was flabbergasted to note that I wasn't given even half a chance to wikify the article in question nor was I allowed enough time to give you my citations about his work to begin with. If you look at the history of this article I was given one minute to do all of this before you swiftly discarded my work. 18:25, 21 November 2006 Artsojourner contributed and in one minute flat at 18:26, 21 November 2006 Omicronpersei8 tagged it and blocked me from any further work on it. IS THIS FAIR since I know Omicronpersei8 didn't take the time or effort to google his name properly in 60 seconds

In googling Lee Isaacs I saw that "Lee" is an overwhelmingly used middle name so I went about to look him up using the -name sign on google and subtracted many first names this way and still ended up with more that 220 articles about him and this, in and of itself, seemed notable enough to me. I feel just because he has spent most of his professional life in the Southern US in no way would make him less of an artist than say someone who has spent most of their professional life in the Northeast. Isaacs has worked in film. He is an expert in Pinhole camera. He has worked as a portrait artist of many notable people. He was the photography editor of a state-wide Arts magazine (Thats a biggie in the Southern US) and also shown his work alongside many notable artists including Emma Amos, Willy Cole, Melissa Springer, Ruth Bernhard, Paul Caponigro, Jerry Uelsmann and Jack Spencer. So I think this is notable also.

This said, after my work here or many hours, I wish to include Lee Isaacs. Artsojourner 06:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, it was just a {{notability}} tag. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 07:53, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you realise that you've written more here about defending the subjects against the tag than there is in the article. Gnangarra 08:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So I am trying to go back to edit it to show notability and I still cant do anything with it. If its just a notablility tag then why cant I work on the page. This is frustrating to me considering I have done alot of homework trying to get this into shape only to be blocked from working on it. WHAT GIVES WHAT GIVES!!!! You tell me???? Artsojourner 18:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and by the way I am not a vandal and never have done anything like that. Artsojourner 18:05, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reversion

regarding the noob

A tag has been placed on The noob, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please write {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Hey, your article needs some serious work. Some schmuck is trying to delete it! I've added some references but I'm going to need help. Timmccloud 13:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tim, please observe WP:CIVIL: Participate in a respectful and civil way. Try to discourage others from being uncivil, and be careful to avoid offending people unintentionally. --Brad Beattie (talk) 13:58, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check these out

These are NOT advertisements! They are links to British legal judgements on internet slander and libel which are extemely pertinent to Wikipedia and its administrators, especially those who have previously sneered at UK laws in this respect. 81.131.113.140 12:32, 22 November 2006 (UTC) (spam removed)[reply]

Oh, okay! Then I'll have you blocked via WP:POINT as well as for spamming. Thanks for letting me know, and please stop. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 12:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should be aware that this individual may well be a sock for the banned user user:sussexman who was blocked for making legal threats on the talkpage of the now deleted Gregory Lauder Frost article as well as for his part in me recieving two solicitors letters to my home address concerning my edits to the article. This issue went all the way to Jimbo and Wiki head of legal Brad Patrick and involved a multitude of users and admin. - just thought you should know--Edchilvers 19:07, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why

Why do you keep reverting my requests on WP:AIV?

Ring modulator 12:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't unless the person in question was blocked. Most likely, your requests were successful. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 12:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't posted at AIV recently. Are you referring to edit conflicts? -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 12:47, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My user page

Thanks for the vandalism revert. Nice to see other people on RC Patrol. James086 Talk | Contribs 12:52, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna

Please get back to me in regards to this. I recently contributed to the Madonna article. Is it possible to contribute to the article at all or is just one person allowed to? I thought people had a right to be more informed on her different names. My user name is Israell and I'm on Yahoo! messenger as forever_arckangel.

I wrote: "Veronica was chosen by Madonna as her confirmation name. Press releases by Callaway and Warner Brothers referred to her as Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie. Madonna explained that she chose Esther as a Kabbalah name on an NBC interview." Israell 16:40, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

why do you keep reverting the scotland page

I have added www.travelscotland.co.uk to scotland page which is one of the best Scottish sites and guides. Please stop removing it. It is better than VisitScotland.com in my opinion —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.187.123.10 (talkcontribs) 16:27, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Another editor wiped out my note [1], so I'm reposting it as I wanted to make sure you got it. -- Gogo Dodo 19:08, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hit 10,000 edits (miniscule compared to your count, I'm sure) the other day and to commemorate this momentous (?) occasion, I wanted to leave a note to the various people I've run into on Wikipedia that have made an impact on my time here. Just wanted to say thank you again for the many times you reverted my user page. I still think you're faster than these anti-vandalism bots. =) -- Gogo Dodo 01:26, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I actually saw it earlier but became preoccupied on RC patrol and didn't respond. I somehow missed that it was removed, too.
Back on topic, thank you for the kind regards, and congrats! That's quite a milestone! I hit an edit count milestone too yesterday, in fact.
Keep up the great work – we need you. Thanks for the tons of CV and otherwise helpful edits, and I hope your experience and dedication is contagious. Let me know whenever you need help, and don't let yourself get burnt out! -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 02:02, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Teke

Thankya much, for about the fourth time :) Teke (talk) 03:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rolf A. Stein

There are already biographies of Berthold Laufer, R. A. Miller, Christopher Beckwith, Leonard van der Kuijp, Paul Pelliot. These people are of comparable notability. About half of Wikipedia is devoted to characters in fantasy games or star treck ships, it would be hard to find a person living or dead less notable than these topics. Music Magazine

Hi,

I am the site administrator of Loud Music Magazine of Middle East. I would like to know why the article Music Magazine is up for deletion. Is there any other place where I can place information about our magazine.

Regards,
Kamaal —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Loudmag (talkcontribs) 10:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi – I've tagged it because it appears to be written in an unencyclopedic tone that appears to have the motive of advertising. If you can trim it down to the bare essentials (i.e. simply tell what the magazine is) and then (and also very importantly) assert why it is a notable publication, I will give some thought to downgrading the deletion tag. Hope that helps. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 10:50, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that stub tag was great. The phrase "such as" however implies it's used in the preparation of more types of candy, which I think is not correct (so I removed it). - Mgm|(talk) 13:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Etiquette in Europe

Thanks for the green Wikipedia:Edit lock tag on the Etiquette in Europe article. The article should be presentable in 8 hours or less. I haven't dealt with the Edit lock before, but I suspect that you set it up so that I can remove it when finished. As a contingency if that isn't the case, I've removed the images from the article and the appearance of an image in the article will signal that its ready to go. Thanks, and Happy (American) Thanksgiving. HouseOfScandal 18:39, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for being understanding about my edits there. The tag I added actually isn't a lock, just a maintenance tag. I'm not an admin, so I don't have the power to lock the article or anything like that. I already went ahead and removed it since it looks like you've made headway – hope that's alright as well. Good work on that article – I can see why it would take a while to put together now. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 01:20, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks greatly! I'm going to use the tag for a few more hours as parts of the article are still half-cooked. Best wishes. HouseOfScandal 08:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPWatcher

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. When you log into the program, wait a few seconds while it queries wikipedia before screaming at your PC for crashing (unless you see an error, of course). Please give me any feature requests, bugs, etc. The watchlist feature does not work. Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release. Finally, enjoy! Martinp23

Again, thanks for your interest. Please could you give me any bug reports or feature requstes, so I can act upon them (hopefully!). At the moment, the program is functional (and just that) - I need to do work on the GUI -- thanks Martinp23 19:18, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spam on my user page

Thanks for removing the spam on my user page. Actually I don't think it was just random drive-by spam - the people to whom it was posted were all involved in a rather nasty row a few months ago with some anonymous editors over an article about a far-right fringe British politician. The anons were eventually all banned for personal attacks, legal threats etc. If you follow the spammed links, they're about legal cases in which people in the UK were sued for posting things on US bulletin boards. In short, it seems to be another legal threat from the same crew. -- ChrisO 15:12, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protect your page

Judging by your edit history, I think you may want to request semi protection on your userpage. Now is not a good time. I suggest you do it straight after the next vandalising edit on your page at Requests for protection. Hope that helps! --AAA! (AAAA) 05:29, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harassment

What are your specific issues with the OpenDocument icons page? It is not 'original work' it is a synopsis. It is related to the OpenDocument Format page which is already too long to include this material. All the material used is under verifiable license. Lars Noodén 08:55, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I just wanted to say thank you again. I know you were doing routine vandal patrol. Still, thank you so much for catching the vandalism to the Langston Hughes article. Thank you!TonyCrew 21:00, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Erased edits? Are you sponsoring external links?

I recently found out about The Private Equity Exchange where I am to be a keynote speaker. I loved the idea that a community of Private Equity professionals can exchange across all asset classes. The summit is next week. I had never heard of it, probably because it is in Europe so I went to Wikipedia to add it to external links but I got erased time almost automatically. But other commercial links don't? Why? For instance on Private Equity you can find as external links: PrivateEquityOnline - The global private equity news website

But you deleted the link to the Private Equity Exchange, why?
