Main:

Small city located in Santa Catarina's state of Brazil, Ascurra has a strong italian culture due to its colonization in 1876 made by farmers from Tirol. The Ascurra name was given by Dr. Blumenau and this name comes from a point in Serra do Ibitirapé (Paraguay) that was taken by Brazilian's army in Paraguay war at 1869.

Geography:

Latitude - 26º57'19" South Longitude - 49º22'32" West Altitude - 88 mt. Population - 7 330 hab (2004). Area - 119,12 km2.

Nearest important city: Blumenau (25 miles)

Economy:

Mainly from the rice agriculture.

Per Tutti – An high Tirolese influenced party that occurs between august and september.
