The Venus Project is a plan to radical redesign our society. The approach and organization was founded by Jacque Fresco. The idea is to create an 'organic city', see the planet as a the property of all human beings and creating a resource based economy.

Background

Jacque Fresco saw that the Great Depression produced a large unemployment rate and suffering. Not because the products of the jobs weren't necessary, but because of the monetarian system. His argument is that money is limiting our capability. He claims that suffering, violence, hunger and poverty is unnecessary, artificial and bad for the society.[1]

Approach

Science

His aim is to make science the main resource i society. It shall be used to make the life better for everyone.[2]

Ressource based economy

His proposal is to create a resource based economy. An economy where humanity see which resources we have and share it equally. He claims that money is limiting our ability, creating artificial scarcity.[3]

Architecture

His approach is to build an organic city. A self-sufficient city, with common buildings in the middle, research centers in the next layer, common areas like parks, residential buildings and food production buildings in the last circles. He argues that you only have to design a few of the layers and reproduce the layer.[4]
